HERE WE GO, THE FINAL ROUND!

The SFIV Gamestop National Tournament concluded a couple of weeks back, on April 18, 2009. Though I was not able to attend (I watched Lieutenant of Inishmore instead, which is incredibly hilarious and gory--It's not showing anymore though, I believe, I should've posted sooner...) I did excitedly run through the Twitter play-by-play. (HAHAH I know, Twitter, it's been made into such a joke the way it's been marketed--"Come follow NBC's TWITTER PAGE WHERE THE MISS AMERICA FINALISTS WILL BE TWITTERING AS IT HAPPENS!"-show screen of two pageant-girls texting with HUGE fake smiles on their faces, giggling and laughing about who-the-hell knows what... But I digress... Oh and I love parantheses too, none of them are in the right place but I will still use them.)

SO ANYWAYS, I was anxiously trying to see who would win the exhibition matches between America's national champion (Justin Wong), Korea's (Poongko), and Japan's (Iyo), OH, and Daigo was there too, 'cuz y'know, he's a beast. So I'm driving home with my parents in tow, checking up on twitter every five minutes or so, (on the sly too, 'cuz my folks flip when they're in the car with me. teehee.) Anyways, we get home and it finally gets posted--the match I'd been waiting for--Daigo vs. Justin Wong. Now, for those of you that don't know, Daigo vs. Justin Wong is a pretty famous match up in competitive fighting game history. I will link it below, but essentially, Daigo comes from near impossible odds to take down Justin Wong in a fierce match of Street Fighter III. Now, Justin Wong is an INCREDIBLE player, but he will always be known in the fighting community (and even the youtube community) as the dude that got beasted on full-parry-style, but the beast himself.

SO BAM, Here they are again, Street Fighter IV style. GO FOR BROKE. (Except it was just an exhibition match, but from the vid's online, it looked HYPE.) So the stage is set, I'm at home refreshing my twitter every two seconds to see who wins, and across the bay the most hype SFIV match to date is taking place. About five minute later--the news arrives. Daigo wins against J.Wong 4-0. I'm IMMEDIATELY on the Shoryuken forums to see the reaction to this event, and there are already hundreds of posts regarding the issue--most of them shit talking Daigo's inclusion in the exhibition match (C'mon guys, you all know you wanted to see him there, who cares how he got there.)

Regardless, here I am, viciously searching for info on a FIGHTING GAME TOURNAMENT that just took place, when it hits me--I am obsessed. (APPARENTLY EVERYONE ELSE KNEW THOUGH, go figure.) So a week later I decide to take a little break from Street Fighter, and move onto a new project--Arcade games. (HAH, you think I was gonna quit video games? How ridiculous.) So I cleared out my desk, threw on a monitor and a couple of sticks, and started on my hunt for arcade games, namely, beat 'em ups.

I am currently on the hunt for more classic beat 'em ups and shooters and whatever people liked to play when arcades were popular. If you have ANY insight to something fun, please let me know--I will explain everything later, I gotta go back to Streets of Rage.

...Woke up, went to school, listened to some hot tunes, and decided to write a blog...
